recycling
The Authority works closely with its member jurisdictions to develop and execute programs designed to increase residential and commercial recycling. We provide a full range of recycling services designed to increase recycling and reduce waste. Our services include program planning and development, budget analyses, contracting with materials recovery facilities (MRFs), technical guidance, developing collection programs, market analyses, plus education, training and public information programs.
Annual coordination, data compilation and outreach to the private sector on behalf of Member Jurisdiction required Maryland Recycling Act submittals.
The Authority is currently exploring markets and plans to procure the following reuse/recycling services: Building Material/Furniture/Houseware/Appliance Diversion, Shingles/C&D/Gypsum/Drywall Recycling, Ceramic/Porcelain Recycling, Carpet Recycling, Durable Medical Equipment Reuse, and other markets as they emerge.
The Authority also runs the mdrecycles.org website to help encourage businesses and residents to recycle. On mdrecycles.org, you’ll discover which materials are recyclable, reusable and donatable, find companies that will pick up these recyclable materials, and learn how to reduce your waste management costs while helping to create a cleaner environment for all of us.
